LG and Enphase Energy announce release of new residential solar panels

at intersolar 2017, lg electronics announced that it partnered with enphase energy to release a new neon 2ace residential solar panel with advanced technology to make it more efficient, more aesthetically pleasing for homeowners, and that would require half the time to install.

the system has an integrated ac module, which means that homeowners need only lift the micoinverter out of the flat shipping position and connect the cable rather than installing two products separately. enphase energy software will allow for remote monitoring and management from any web-connected device.

“we are committed to the possibilities the solar industry has to offer and are dedicated to delivering products that appeal to the consumer in every aspect,” said stephen hahm, vice president of lg electronics usa’s energy solutions business. “this partnership with enphase has allowed us to streamline the process for consumers, appealing to a wider consumer base while still delivering on the efficiency consumers expects from lg electronics.”

“enphase was founded with the vision of making solar simple, and energy smart,” said paul nahi, president and ceo of enphase energy. “our collaboration with lg on this enphase energizedtm ac module is another example of how we are executing on that vision.”

the neon ace replaces the standard three busbars with 30 thin wires to enhance output and reliability. this adds to a smoother visual appeal and also better energy efficiency. the energy produced by the solar panels can be easily converted to a/c power. “a strategically positioned 15mm distance separates the dc module and the microinverter, mitigating any impact to performance and reliability by allowing sufficient air-flow for cooling,” the press release explained.

according to an article from solar industry magazine, the new solar panels are rated at 365 w per panel, which means 26 percent more power. “and, unlike conventional p-type solar modules,” it continued, “the n-type cells used in the neon r use almost no boron, so light induced degradation is reduced significantly, maximizing performance and maintaining maximum potential power output for the life of the module.”
