seek thermal has announced a line of powerful, professional-quality thermal imaging cameras that can be used with iphone and android smartphones and tablets to take quick and easy thermal photos and videos.

according to the seek thermal website, “simply connect and detect energy loss caused by air leaks, missing or damaged insulation, inefficient hvac systems, electrical faults, and much more. on top of all this, seek compact cameras are engineered to run on low power from your smartphone and do not require batteries or charging.”

 

the compact, compact xr, and compact pro versions detect temperature ranges of -40°f to 626°f and detection distances from 1,000-1,800 feet. all offer nine color palettes and include focusable lenses. the compact version offers a 36° field of view, the compactxt offers 20°, and the compactpro offers 32°.

 

the compactpro provides high-resolution acuity. prices for the cameras start ay $249 for the compact up to $499 for the compactpro.

 

the folks at edn recently received their seek compact and tested it out. in addition to engineering subjects, the camera also proved fun for selfies, tracking squirrels in the snow and cloud analysis.
