CoolIT Systems and Penguin Computing Introduce the Liquid Cooled Relion 2808GT at NVIDIA GTC Conference 2014

san jose, california (prweb) march, 2014:  coolit systems, the global expert in direct contact liquid cooling (dclc™) for hpc, cloud and enterprise markets, partners with penguin computing to deliver the relion 2808gt rack dclc™ solution at the nvidia gtc conference in san jose, california.

complementing the relion 2808gt’s industry leading high density 8 nvidia tesla k40m boards in a 2u form factor, coolit’s partnership with penguin computing addresses power and cooling concerns when using high-density configurations.

the relion 2808gt with coolit’s rack dclc™ solution provides direct-to-chip liquid cooling to both of the intel xeon processors along with eight nvidia k40 gpus. this translates into coolit’s rack dclc™ solution addressing 86% of total server heat while facility air cooling requirement is substantially reduced to 14%.

by reducing the air cooling requirement, an increased number of relion 2808gt servers per rack is possible as well as decreasing data center rack footprint. this will deliver up 24% opex savings per year.

“coollt’s rack dclc™ can be deployed with any server and in any rack making it a truly flexible solution that allows for an edge in today's highly competitive marketplace,” said phil pokorny, cto of penguin computing. “our customer will be satisfied to know we can increase number of gpu per rack without additional heat penalty thanks to liquid cooling.”

“partnering with penguin computing on the ultra-dense relion 2808gt showcases the cost benefits of liquid cooling in a real world application,” said geoff lyon, ceo/cto coollt systems. “with close to immediate roi and 25%+ decreases in operating expense we are able to achieve extreme densities and unparalleled performance for penguin’s customers.”

about coolit

coolit has special expertise across many industries, including automotive, data centers, industrial, and educational markets. with 12 years of application experience and a focus on driving exceptional performance while delivering efficiency and cost savings, coolit partners with the client to deliver the most efficient liquid cooling solution at the lowest total cost.

the dclc platform is a modular, rack-based, advanced cooling solution that allows for dramatic increases in rack densities, component performance, and power efficiencies. over 1.5 million systems on the market means thatcoolit brings a wealth of design, engineering, and manufacturing knowledge to the table.

about penguin computing

penguin computing is the largest private supplier of complete high performance computing (hpc) solutions in north america and has built and operates the leading specialized public hpc cloud service penguin computing on demand (pod). penguin computing also applies its core expertise in the field of distributed large-scale enterprise computing delivering scale-out compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud solutions for organizations looking to take advantage of modern open data center architectures.

penguin computing has been pioneering the concept of integrating and delivering solutions that are based on open architectures and comprise non-proprietary components from a variety of vendors. penguin computing’s arctica network switches are the first products on the market enabling customers to individually select hardware and software components. penguin computing is also one of only five authorized open compute (ocp) solution providers leveraging this facebook-led initiative to bring the most efficient open data center solutions to a broader market.

penguin computing has more than 18,000 systems installed with over 2,500 customers in 40 countries across several major vertical markets.
