coolingzone would like to honor dr. richard chu, noted scientist, author and pioneer in the field of thermal management. dr. chu has made significant contributions to the evolution of electronics cooling. his work pioneered many of the technologies used today in our industry, from thermal system for electronic equipment to enterprise class systems.
dr. chu's extraordinary achievements are seen in his having achieved ibm fellow, ibm's highest technical honor. his achievements are documented in over 200 patents and over 150 patent disclosures. dr. chu received numerous honors including the asme heat transfer memorial award, election to the national academy of engineering, and his appointment as the first president of the ibm academy of technology.
dr. chu was passionate about the academic community as seen through his involvement in ibm's university research program which resulted in over 80 thesis related publications. dr. chu's life was not marked by only a stellar engineering career. he was a devoted and loving family man, an important and loved contributor to his faith community and the hudson valley where he lived and raised his family.
