sae international announces that ercan m. dede, manager at the toyota research institute of north america and f. zafar shaikh, manager at ford motor company will be the keynote speakers at the sae 2016 thermal management systems symposium on tuesday, october 18 and wednesday, october 19 respectively.
ercan m. dede is currently manager in the electronics research department at the toyota research institute of north america and leads a group that conducts research on advanced vehicle electronics systems including power semiconductors, advanced circuits, packaging, and thermal management technology. with over 25 issued patents and more than 35 published articles in archival journals and conference proceedings, mr. dede is an expert on topics related to design and structural optimization of thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic systems.
in 2013, mr. dede and his team received an r&d 100 award for the development of cold plate technology for hybrid vehicle electronics. he is also author of the book, “multiphysics simulation: electromechanical system applications and optimization.”
mr. dede earned his bachelor’s degree and doctorate of philosophy in mechanical engineering from the university of michigan and a master of science in the same field from stanford university.
f. zafar shaikh currently serves as manager in the powertrain research and advanced engineering organization at ford motor company and brings over 40 years of expertise in scr nox emission technology, additive manufacturing, scr emission and thermal energy systems and multi-disciplinary research, including phase change heat transfer and waste heat recovery systems. he currently serves as chairman of scr committee and sae diesel aftertreatment.
as engineer, technical leader, specialist and manager, shaikh has received more than 10 awards for his work and innovations in the r&d, scr systems, wireless vehicle software, and machine design. his most recent accolade in 2013 was the henry ford technical achievement award for the wireless remote flashing of vehicles.
mr. shaikh earned his master of science degree in mechanical engineering from the university of michigan, ann arbor.
sae’s 2016 thermal management systems symposium will be held october 18-20 at the sheraton mesa hotel in mesa, arizona, usa. the three-day event will feature experts from the united states, europe, and asia delivering topics on cutting-edge thermal management technology and regulation compliance strategies. new in 2016, content will be expanded to focus on environmental regulatory requirements and the technologies needed to meet them.
sae’s 2016 thermal management systems symposium will also feature solutions-oriented programming discussing the paramount issue of new vehicle powertrains such as hybrid, electric and fuel cell and their pertinent heating and cooling systems.
