jet impingement is one of the most efficient methods of cooling hot electronic devices, as it can create a very high heat transfer rate on an impacting surface.

as the power density of modern chips keeps increasing, using air jet impingement to remove heat from a heat sink or electronic components has been employed on numerous applications. the most common example is the fan sink with a fan mounted on top of heat sink to create air jets.
