liquid cooling symposium
may 31, 2006, 7:00-9:00 p.m., catalina room
sheraton san diego hotel & marina, san diego, ca

inemi's heat transfer tig is organizing this important symposium to gather information for a best practices document to be published by theliquid cooling project for the benefit of inemi members and the electronics industry.this group proposes to develop best practices from an overall systems approach, including the heat exchanger, the pump or fluid driving device, and the tubing or fluid path.

these components represent the greatest challenge to commercialization of liquid cooling. areas such as reliability, system life, manufacturability, and cost are to be considered. the group proposes to limit its work to "in the product" liquid cooling and will not cover the interface between the electronic product and the environment as other groups (notably ashrae) are currently working this issue.

call for papers.presentations are invited for the symposium. there is a large body of work defining the performance benefits of liquid cooling.we are looking for presentations that will discuss the productization of liquid cooling to take advantage of these benefits.speakers should focus on reliability, affordability, assembly and manufacturing, the pump and tubing, liquid selection, and overall system design.in addition, we are interested in often-overlooked aspects of liquid cooling systems. presentations should be approximately 15 minutes long, and presenters will participate in a panel discussion at the end of the session.

abstracts should be submitted to michael patterson ([email protected]) by april 21.the inemi tig will review submissions and choose those presentations that best describe successful applications of liquid cooling.selected presenters will be notified by april 28.

the inemi project team will hold an open meeting june 2 (the morning after the symposium) to discuss and distill symposium presentations into key points for the best practices document.

both meetings will be held at the sheraton san diego hotel & marina concurrently with itherm and ectc. anyone attending the inemi meetings is encouraged to attend these conferences as well, as they will provide a wide range of technical programs in electronics and electronics cooling. watch the http://www.inemi.org/cms/calendar/liquid_cooling_symposium_and_mtg.htmlwebsite for more details as they become available.

the international electronics manufacturing initiative (inemi) is an industry-led consortium of approximately 70 electronics manufacturers, suppliers, and related organizations, with the mission of assuring leadership of the global electronics manufacturing supply chain.
