part of the mission of coolingzone is to be a an engineering community that increases the productivity of mechanical engineers in designing and implementing cost-effective solutions and help them reduce inefficiencies in their daily professional work. as part of that strategy, we've re-engineered our supplier directory.
what is new for engineers?
the coolingzone supplier directory retains the same look and feel as before. most if not all of the changes are "under the hood" where we've done a good deal of modification to the underlying code. the most obvious external change visitors will find is the custom search box driven by a custom search engine.
the custom search engine gives engineers a powerful tool to search the coolingzone supplier directory for the precise solution they want. from composites, to heat sinks, to led cooling, to gap pads and more.
what is the benefit of using a custom directory like this?
engineers can use one of the major search engines or a broader custom directory to search for resources. but both have limitations. a major search engine sweeps across the net showing thousands of entries in their search results. isn't that what engineers want? alot of choices? searching for the term "heat sink" brings up about 8 million options on a general search engines results page. those results are listed in a row, page by page. or ads are listed that correspond to the search term entered. and engineers have to consume time to wade through those to find a solution.
with a broader custom directory, engineers can get more search graunlarity but the directories often have limited scope for thermal management, heat and energy transfer. the result is a somewhat more accurate search but accross a small resource set.
and that is where coolingzone's supplier directory comes in.
what is different?
first, the supplier directory contains a wide variety of companies who's products are geared expressly toward thermal management, heat and energy transfer. that means any results returned will be relevant. instead of hand filtering through a variety of non-related by similar worded suppliers in areas such as composites, coolingzone's supplier directory will return to you only the results most relevant to what the practicing mechanical engineer needs.
the coolingzone supplier directory is the same approach we took with google scholar. we partnered with google and customized the results creating a rich set of filters that make searching the rich google scholar database much easier and more accurate. the supplier directory is now a similarly userful tool for engineers in electronics cooling, heat transfer, thermal management and energy transport.
what is new for participating suppliers?
the engineers searching for your products are not likely to be gamers, the curious or otherwise out of the context of the practicing mechanical engineer in thermal management. instead, the searchers in our directory are those looking for products, services, consulting and education so they can engage and solve a problem they have.
