according to the conference website, “thermodynamic methods and concepts appear in various areas of physics, engineering, sciences and humanities. this wide range of applicability is a source of inspiration, but also a cause of separation and divergence. the aim of this conference is to improve the interaction and pull together the various application areas and theoretical branches in order to develop a more powerful and more applicable discipline.”
the deadline for submitting an abstract is jan. 15, 2017 and the review of abstracts will be completed by march 1. early-bird registration for the conference will continue through march 15.
the conference website states, “in mini-symposia various specific thermodynamic related topics are introduced by experts and discussed by the audience. the presentations of the participants are organized in sessions, according to their topics. the interaction is enhanced also by poster sessions along the coffee breaks.”
the conference was created in 1989 and was originally named the journées européennes de thermodynamique contemporaine by ecast, the european center for advanced studies in thermodynamics. it was renamed in 2007 to enlarge the scope of the conference.

there is also a follow-up conference taking place at the university from may 25-27, the international conference on mathematics in (bio)chemical kinetics and engineering (mackie 2017). for more information, visit http://mackie2017.akcongress.com.
