in its announcement of the semi-therm appearance, the company outlined several benefits that its carbon-fiber materials provide:
- low contact pressure applications
- highly flexible interface features and benefits
- slide interface applications for applications such as network plugs
- features and applications of pcm heat capacitor
- portable laser projector cooling solution
- embedded camera module solution
kulr ceo michael mo said, “our heat solutions are quite unique and effective so we definitely expect to generate some buzz and interest both at the conference and throughout the industry.”
mo added, “the carbon fiber based systems we’ll be sharing at semi-therm are real game changers because they are lighter, more flexible and frankly better than traditional metal or adhesive solutions.”
an article on newswatchtv.com noted that the san diego, calif.-based company, which was founded in 2013 by engineers with more than 30 years of experience in the aerospace industry, has worked with the likes of boeing, nasa, raytheon, jpl and others.
the article added, “now just because it works outside of our atmosphere doesn’t mean this innovative technology doesn’t have other applications. it can fit and work in mobile devices, cloud servers, vr platforms, drones, and anything else that requires internal computing to do its job.”
a description of the company’s mission on its website stated, “as the world of electronics demands increasing processing power and further miniaturization and transportation into electrification, kulr’s disruptive, game-changing thermal management technology strives to solve the challenge of keeping electronics cooler, lighter, and safer in an ethical and environmentally sustainable manner. we aim to revolutionize this $11 billion/year industry.
“kulr’s proprietary carbon fiber-based architecture replaces less efficient aluminum and copper based heat spreaders and exchangers, which are energy intensive and less environmentally friendly to produce.”
