Recent Advances in NCP Cold Plate performance

mikros introduced the ncp cold plate technology to the market about two years ago. while the original design was anc continues to be superior to all known cold plates on the market, mikros has continued to improve the internal micro-channel configuration of its ncp family of cold plates.

the original design was referred to as v3 and the two more recent designs are called v5 and v10 with v10 being the latest design. figure below shows the performance of these 3 generations of mikros ncp.

as can be seen, a performance increase of more than 40% is achieved from v3 to v10. the graph shows that at a typical pressure drop of, say, 5 psi the thermal resistivity is about 0.024 c/(w/cm^2). this means that for 1000 watts of heat applied to to the surface of the ncp, the temperature rise from the inlet to the surface of the ncp is only 24 c.
