Boston Limited and Hardcore Computing Present Liquid Submerged Server

london, u.k., march 27 -- boston limited is proud to partner with high performance computing specialist hardcore computer, inc to present the lsstm 200 total liquid submersion server, the world’s fastest x86-based server, at this year’s low-latency summit 2012.

to gain a competitive edge, financial institutions require high performance computing solutions that offer extreme processing speed and low latency. however, these demands push the boundaries of conventional computing resources because regardless how fast your switches and nics are, most servers use the same frequency off-the-shelf processors.

in contrast, the lss 200, which offers significant benefits for the hft and financial markets uses special edition processors that are performance enhanced through overclocking, a technique that reduces latency and the time taken to process calculations. this allows the lss 200 to run hft type applications 30 per cent to 40 per cent faster than over stock-speed servers, without sacrificing reliability.

these performance enhancements are possible because all the heat-generating components within the lss 200 are submerged in a dielectric liquid, core coolanttm, which is electrically non-conductive, and has 1,350 times better heat removal capacity than air. this means that all the components inside the lss 200 run significantly faster and cooler than traditional air-cooled systems.

boston limited will also demonstrate the hardcore detonatortm workstation at the show. this innovative workstation uses the same liquid-submersion core coolant technology as the lss 200 to overclock its intel xeon cpus up to 4.8ghz, thereby providing far greater responsiveness in hft applications, allowing traders to operate faster than ever before. in the 'race to zero', the detonator provides unrivalled low-latency thanks to its unique total liquid submersion technology.

as a side benefit, the core coolant liquid submersion technology can reduce cooling costs by over 80% as your data centre will no longer require extensive air-conditioning systems to keep your servers cool.

mr manoj nayee, managing director of boston limited, says, “boston is delighted to be presenting the innovative lss 200 and detonator at this year’s low-latency summit. running faster, cooler and more efficient than other solutions, these two low-latency systems are ideal for processing the quantitatively intensive datasets in the hft environment, thereby allowing faster trading.”

for a more detailed insight into how the lss 200 and its innovative liquid submersion technology lowers latency and delivers significant performance enhancements, boston limited and hardcore computer will also be unveiling an in-depth white paper at the summit 'high frequency trading beats the heat with total liquid submersion cooling'.

about boston limited

with 20 years of trading within the distribution and oem marketplace, boston continues to lead the way in providing the latest high-performance, power-optimized technologies into the financial, htf, hpc, isp, military, vfx, enterprise and broadcast markets with multi-award winning server, storage, workstation and clustered solutions. since the successful launch of boston it solutions (india) private limited in 2009, we announced the launch of boston server & storage solutions gmbh in 2010. expansion into both regions has been driven purely by market demand for alternate vendors providing high-performance and high value-add systems. as our global reach continues to expand we plan on opening further global facilities to improve and expand the services we offer. for more information about boston, please visit www.boston.co.uk and follow @bostonlimited on twitter.
