How do you address datacenter cooling where a 15-min. outage can mean $25M in lost revenue?

Mission critical datacenter cooling raises the stakes considerably.  When  your up time is 0.99999 and even 15 minutes off line can mean $25 Million dollars in lost revenue, life gets very hot.   There are various strategies to keep such centers cool, such as having cooling overcapacity (which means multi-million dollar energy bills) or keeping your facility always cold, hoping to “store” enough cool air to keep your data center online should the cooling fail.

In this lecture presented by Dr. Cliff Federspiel, Ph.D., CTO of Vigilent Technologies, he covers the problem and possible solutions to cooling mission crtical data centers.  This presentation was filmed by CITRUS, The Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society.    You can receive content like this and more by subscribing to the twice monthly coolingZONE Technical Newsletter.
